Briefing your wedding party
- If you can, take as much of the week as possible off work!
- Have your wedding ceremony rehearsal
- Give your wedding party their gifts after the rehearsal
- Organise your processional - who will go where and in what order
- Practice all the readings, poems, etc.
- Leave the rings with the best man after the rehearsal
- Give the best man a list of all the wedding services involved in your wedding day and any payments due - he should handle any issues on the day for you!
- Explain to ushers their duties at the ceremony (e.g. showing guests to seats, handing out orders of service, etc.)
- Explain to bridesmaids their duties at the ceremony
- Instruct your wedding party on what they will be doing at the reception
- Organise your receiving line: who and where they will stand
Looking your best
- Brides should wear-in their wedding shoes, particularly if you are not used to high heels!
- Grooms should have their hair trimmed
- Grrom and male attendants should pick up attire, rental or otherwise and confirm the fitting and sizing is appropriate. Make any final alterations as necessary
- Have a close friend make up an emergency wedding kit (containing makeup and a repair kit for the wedding dress in case of mis-hap)
Other matters
- Pack your bags for the honeymoon (you don't want to be doing that on your wedding night!)
- Provide the caterer or reception site manager with finished table plan, place cards, table cards, table favours, menus, disposable cameras and any other items for setting the tables
- Provide caterer with final guest numbers and any special dietary requirements by name of guest - don't forget to include any wedding entertainers in the numbers!
- Contact all vendors with any last-minute adjustments to timings or requirements. Make sure the venues have everything they need (e.g. storage space, extra tables)
