on the day |
The day/night before
- The groom and best man should consider having a proper shave at the barbers shop
- Best man should collect any telegrpahs or messages to be read at the reception
- The bride and chief bridesmaid could have a manicure or spa day to relax
- Don't try to do too much - spare your energy!
- Make sure all the suppliers involved have an emergency phone number to call on the day of the wedding and that any mobile phones are fully charged & prepaid
- Stay with your family the night before and go to sleep early
The big day itself
- Get up and have a relaxing shower or bath
- Have a good breakfast - you might be surprised at how little you eat and drink later!
- Don’t eat anything unusual so you avoide an upset stomach
- Bride, bride's mother and attendants have make-up and hair-styles done
- Allow yourself plenty of time to get dressed - perhaps as much as two hours - there are always unforeseen issues!
- Bridal and pre-arranged photogrpahs at home before you leave
- The first wedding car will take the mother and the bridesmaids to the church
- The second wedding car will take the bride and her father to the church. Where the bridesmaids will meet them
- The best man will normally get the groom to the ceremony, where he will meet the ushers
- The ushers should hand out the orders of service and seat guests - leave front rows clear!
- The groom’s parents should be seated only about 5 minutes before the scheduled start time
- The mother of the bride is normally seated last (whilst the bride waits outside)
- Make sure the best man and chief bridesmaid sign the register
- Enjoy your fabulous wedding and cherish every moment! This is probably the first and last time in your life when all those you care about and love most will be around you at the same time!
- Relax, enjoy yourself, and remain calm!
